sigh I just received my evga 8800gt ko edition and when I boot my system nothing happens on the display of my monitor. The fan on the card is running (quite loud) the whole time but nothing comes up on the screen. When I put my 8800gts back in to check, my system boots up fine just like normal. I'm thinking its either a defective card, or possibly that my mobo is not compliant with the 8800gt . . I read somewhere that you have to have a "pci-e 2.0" slot or sometin like that for this card??? if anyone can help please let me know as I'm not that much of tech expert on mobo's.
You don't need a pci-e 2.0 compliant board, but make sure you plug in the power connectors for the card. Does it even show the bios info launch?..or just a flat out black screen.
Id like to add that the gt pulls alot more juice, whats your psu? Also, have you tried deleting and reinstalling your drivers with the gt installed?

8800 gt pulls a small amount of juice at boot and idle, in game or app it can pull up to 105 watt, so your fine there most likely. Also these new cards work in any pci express x 16 so your fine there. What you need to do is put your old card back in and uninstall the driver or drivers for that card, make sure there gone. then shutdown install new card and you should boot fine, then install its driver.
i have a 500W apevia psu . . . and I did uninstall my drivers for my 8800gts before I put in the 8800gt . . and still no response on the monitor . . no bios comes up or anything . . . the only thing I can confirm is that there is a "tick" noise that I hear about every few seconds . . think its coming from the psu . .
but yea I made sure to uninstall the nvidia drivers and I had the power connectors connected to a rail from the psu . . i reserved the lone rail for the card only and it isn't connected to anything thing else in my system . .
Do you have any usbs hooked up? Ive seen this as an ongoing problem sometimes.
