Hi all,

I'm planning to upgrade my motherboard, video card and RAM on my system. I currently have an intel mobo, geforce 6600gt video card, and kingston DDR400 ram. I'm switching to a gigabyte mobo, 7900gs foxconn, and a-data DDR2-667 ram.

I have two hard drives and i am dual booting windows xp and vista ultimate.

I understand i need to use the repair cd after i make the switch but I am not sure if this is what i am suppose to do because i am dual booting.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I dont think running repair CD is an optimal solution especially when you are changing MOBOs.. I think you should invest some time and do a clean install.. you will be thankfull in the long run..

If you dont then anytime you face an issue you will never know is its because you did not do a clean install.

Why are you moving to a 7900GS?

How much are you paying for the 7900gs, and how much would an 8800gt cost where you live?

whats wrong with the GS? i dont have 250 for the 8800gt. the GS was only $100 brand new and it comes with a joypad.

Nothing wrong with the 7900GS, if you play only older games and your monitor is small.
However, it will choke in newer games at higher resolutions.

Here's an example where the 8800GTS (which is a bit slower than the 8800GT) plays well and the 7900GS doesn't.

honestly i'm going to buy Crysis and I don't mind playing at medium settings. 7900gs should be enough for this right?

No idea, honestly. Lots of benchmarks on the Internet and they contradict one another. I'd wait for real reviews. They should be out in a week or so.
