I recently switched over from a single Seagate barracuda 250GB drive to 2 drives running in Raid 0 format at 500GB.

Before with a single drive i've had no issues aside from lack of storage space, however once stepping up to a raid 0 format I've notice more often than not my files are becomming corrupted. More specifically Torrent .rar files are showing up as corrupt when previously downloaded versions worked fine before. One time a file will extract then another a volume will be corrupt.

I've reinstalled, i've switched from Vista 64bit to XP 32bit, the only thing i'm not sure (because i didn't test it thouroughly) was switching back again to a non raid state.

I Know the easiest way to find out is to jsut do it but this will have been my 4th time reinstalling a os and its a long and tedious pain especially if anyone here has experience a similar issue with their files.

Other than the rar file issue most everything else works properly. Things run fast and smooth, once a program has been installed i've no issues with it from that point on.

I have a feeling my problem is happening with the files corrupting during download. It happens way to oftne (almost 90%) of rar'd ISO files are downloading with broken files. So i doubt highly its a coincidence.

Thanks for any and all help or comments.

So here is an update for anyone interested in figuring out a solution to this kind of problem. More speficically the issue of File Corruption during installation of large format (Most often) Games and Applications.

You may believe its your harddrive and for some of you that is the case. Of course testing the harddrives for issues and or anything else should be first but the next thing you should test before you run out and try to warranty exchange anything should be to try different ram. I found that my issue was solved by replacing both 2GB sticks of ram with new ram and Voila, installations happening without issue. Meanwhile the harddrive i originally replaced was found to be fine and working well in another computer.

Conclusion, hopefully this has been of help to some of you if not, keep trying :P
