I'm confused. I am planning on upgrading to the Core 2 Duo 6750 2.66 processor. The FSB is 1333 mhz. Now, I've just about looked everywhere. I know I need to upgrade my mobo. I have an Asus P5N-SLI which has an FSB max of 1033 mhz.

My question is this: Can I get the 6750 right now, and have the FSB underclocked to 1066 in my P5N Sli so that I don't have to simultaneously update to a P35, 650i or 680i chipset?

Someone from school told me that it was possible, but I'd like to know for sure before I decide to upgrade.

Thanks in advance.

Well, the Asus P5N can unofficially support 1333mhz. You just overclock the fsb up to speed. You can go even higher than 1333mhz to get more juice outta that cpu. Just learn how to overclock.

You should be able to overclock your system to run 1333 no problem at all. 1333 is quad pumped. 1333/4=333.25.
The 6750 has an 8x multiplier. At stock speed it runs 333.25x8=2.6ghz. Lets say you want to run 3.0(3000mhz)
3000/8=375. 375x4=1500 new FSB. Your board may need a Bios upgrade to accept the 1333 cpus.
