If it got lots more sales, yes, that tbh was quite a stupid thing to say.
II knw EVGA cover people using water blocks, so yes, quite silly.
Only thing was XFX was in stock and EVGA wasn't, had ordered EVGA before and will continue waiting. EVGA keep your warrenty as long as you dont physically damage the card.

if u in usa then register ur produce withen 30 days of buying it. n overclock it with whatever cooler u want. IF U FRY IT UP. then return the stock cooler. n then sent it to xfx to fix it for u.
And you think they'll not notice you overclocked it....
it was in fact (to the OP) a very intelligent thing to say.
It has nothing to do with sales, it's to do with giving the most basic cover so you help people that need it, otherwise it wouldn't be financially viable to sell the card...
If you had read the link you would have seen this anyway-
XFX Warranty Link -
This warranty offered by XFX to its Resellers is limited to the repair and/or replacement, at XFXs discretion, of defective or nonconforming Product, and XFX shall not be responsible for the failure of the Product to perform specified functions, or any other non- conformance caused by or attributable to: (a) any misapplication, modification or misuse of the Product; (b) failure of Customer to adhere to any of XFXs specifications or instructions; (c) neglect of, abuse of, or accident to, the Product; or (d) any associated or complementary equipment or software not furnished by XFX.
So, no, in essence **** around with the card and you're on your own is what that says
I'm sure we have done this topic to death more than once recently the main consensus was that as long as you can bolt the stock cooler back on and the card appears exactly as it did when you bought it how will any body know?
The XFX warranty does however specifically say that you can not modify the card so the answer to your Question is no i does not cover you for adding a water block and overclocking it.
Mactronix
my 2 cents- again on this subject.
1. unless you physically burn components they will fix/replace
2. theres no real reliable way to verify if you overclock it if you overdrive the card and it fails- holy **** I can't believe people still even think it's possible.
EVGA does word their warranty more clearly that you can push it all you want just return it to them as purchased (ie. cooler back on and such) for repair replace.
And companies sure as hell can make loads of money this way, when enthusiasts purchase equipment with this type of warranty and drive them hard and fast word travels how well the product is and how strong the warranty is. remember they have probe testers and can generally identify failed components and repair them cheaply, it's giving them a use path for old and repaired units and making customers greatly happy.
>> Was not damaged by software or hardware from a company or individual other than BFG Technologies or by motherboard incompatibility.
>> Was operated in accordance with BFG Technologies specifications, instructions and any technical support directions.
>> Was not modified or damaged by overclocking, tampering, user error, accident, disaster, abuse, misuse, power supply, power application, alteration, repair, modification, a fix or replacement by someone other than BFG Technologies.
>> Third party products, such as motherboards and other system components using this Product are not be covered by this warranty.
Thats from BFG's site, am I correct in the assumption that that states that aslong as I dont damage it with a water block, I keep my warrenty?

Ok well the booklet of warenty specs for my card
"XFX geforce 8600gt xxx" it says that xfx know the buyers of the card want to push the card to its lilmits.
that says one thing to me they know your goign to overclock it. besides they includes coolbits on there software cd.
I once had an XFX 7900GT. I volt-modded it and o/c'ed the living crap out of it for almost year and then gave it to my brother after I upgraded. It started artifacting and became unstable shortly after it was a year old. He shipped it back to me, I removed the circuit-pen "ink" with an alcohol swab and RMA'ed it to XFX. They replaced it with no questions asked.
This is of course no guarantee that XFX will honor every warranty if someone replaces the cooling or otherwise mods the card, but I can personally tell you that they either didn't notice that my card had been substantially modded or they didn't care.
