I have used OCCT,Memtest,SP2004.
I use both OCCT and SP2004 they dont use all the memory to do the stress test.But in Memtest i can set what size of ram to test.But somehow i dont feel any of those is stressing the memory enough.anyone got any thought?
or am i wrong, that they DO actually stress the memory hard enough???
I use MemTest to see if my voltages, MHz, and timings will run. I don't know how many instances of it to run however. I just let it run once, 100% test. Takes around 10 minutes. If anybody has some memtest advice let me know.
Then I do the custom Blend test. I let my comp idle for awhile then check current RAM usage and subtract that from my total available. I set that amount in the Blend test and roll with it.
To check stability is, indeed, far too difficult. You'd think since the early 80s IBM would have fixed their memory
sysem... made it buffered and such....
Every BIOS should be flashed with each RAMs timings .. most BIOSs do not get properly
interprited by the Computer's hardware
One thing is that memcheck alone may not cause exceptions that will come along in more complicated
circumstances. Of course you should run memcheck, making sure it will need to access 2 or more DIMMs,
along with some heavy game playing or/and browsing... a week or so of memcheck is a good sign!
Often times the volts may be a bit low...I know mine try to get 1.8 when they should get 2.2.
Of course I am always exasperated that people say we love to overclock. NEVER.
Nvidia loves to overclock. Intel and AMD love to overclock..... we just have to clock
our systems properly (which can take months). Like my decent Nvidia video card,
which claimed DDR3 so long ago. OF COURSE I have to go down to DDR2 speeds (they didn't
even MAKE DDR3s at the time!).
The core came up to half the RAM speed though...............
PS: Though a week of memcheck is good, I am told to expect a "soft error" bad bit every 6
months or more, generally caused by a cosmic ray interacting with the RAM
