PSU Question

Ok i purchased a Geforce 8400gs video card (yes i know its not that great of a card). I have a 280W PSU. I would like to know if i need a new one to use the card and if so should i get a new 420w Turbolink PSU for $18?

Ok i purchased a Geforce 8400gs video card (yes i know its not that great of a card). I have a 280x PSU. I would like to know if i need a new one to use the card and if so should i get a new 420w Turbolink PSU for $18?

The 8400gs gets it's 12v power from the PCIE slot (the MB). A seperate 12v power lead from the PSU is not needed. I would install the card and see if the system remains stable. If so, a more efficient PSU is not needed. HTH.

Ok thanks. I was just worried that if my PSU wasn't able to handle it then it would mess the Video Card up. I will just do like you said and install it and see if it works with my old PSU. If not then i will just get me a new one.

Just wanted to say thanks badge because i installed my video card and it worked fine with my old PSU. It would have been a waste of money on a new one.
