Hi there,

I am in need of a PSU for the new rig I am building.. the components of the machine will be very simmilar to this:

Q6600 CPU (Will overclock to about 3.0-3.2GHz)
OCZ Platinum XTC REV 2 ram, will overclock to about 2.2V (4x 1GB Modules)
Two DVD Drives
Two Hard-Drives

Will have an 8800GT GPU Most likely, but will upgrade in the future to a high-end card of next year generation. or SLi it with another 8800GT.

I want to future-proof myself (3 years or so), but I don't want to drop like $300 on a PSU.

Would a 650 Wattage PSU do that supports SLi, or do I need more wattage?

Another vote for the Silencer.

You can also get this version:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341011&Tpk=Silencer+Crossfire
for the same price after shipping. The only difference is that this one has 6/8 PCI-E connectors, rather than fixed 6 pin. This allows it work with HD2900XT for example. It may help if next year's cards need 8 pin connectors.

Get yourself a good case. The Silencer is big, it won't fit in some small cases. Two 8800GT cards are very hot, so you need a big case with lots of fans. Look at the Silverstone TJ-09 for example, or Antec 900.

If I dont want to do SLi or Crossfire, would a 600W Cooler-Master Extreme Power Duo do the trick?
