New PC is sub-par on Company of Heroes....confirm?

New build specs are as follows:

Intel Q6600
XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition
Gigabyte P35-DS3R
4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 RAM
Vista Home Prem. 64-bit

Most benchmarks I'm seeing on the net for the 8800GT have the card getting upwards of 30FPS at 1600x1200 with ULTRA settings and a high level of AA (16X).

I'm getting an estimated 10-15 FPS (it's choppy movement and scrolling) running the game at 1280x1024 with all settings on HIGH or ULTRA (on Terrain and Effects Fidelity and Density) and AA only on 2X or 4X.

For comparison, on Crysis Demo I can run the game at 1280x1024 at all VERY HIGH settings and get 15 FPS, which is normal from what I've seen.

At playable settings the game is running at 1280x1024 with all settings on HIGH except for Effects Density and Effects Fidelity on ULTRA. Terrain is on HIGH not ULTRA. AA is OFF.

CoH is patched to the latest patch as well. I'm not sure why I'm getting poor performance.

More about company heroes confirm
  1. Reinstalling the games usually fixes the problem for most games
  2. If it's LCD, turn vsync on.
  3. I checked the in-game options, and it appears CoH does not have a V-Sync option. Is there another way to do this?
  4. Don't know about that game, some games show a master setup program the 1st time the game runs. If not, look at nvidia display settings | manage 3d settings | last option, force on.

BTW, you're not using a beta display driver? If so, downgrade to a stable one. I read the exact the same problem in another forum.
  5. I'll check into the driver. I'm running nvidia 169.02 at the moment.

Do you have a link to the other forum?
  6. Your build looks great, so your issue is with Vista and drivers...very common.
