So recently we got a new case and we accidentally fryed out hardrive  . We luckily had a second hradrive and we installed XP Pro. Before we used the new hardrive the old one had sound. We have only once got a beep , but i think that was the case speaker. We just today got a new High-def sound card in hope of good sound, we installed the drivers and it says everything it working perfectly :heink: , but still no sound. The only driver we don't have downloaded is the sm-bus controller. We do not think it is the moniter seeing as we have 2 speakers in the sound card ports :heink: . Please tell us what you may think is wrong with our system. Our sound card is A "Creative audigy" We used to have a realtek 97' or some thing close to it.

When you put the new sound card in, did you go into the Bios and shut off the on-board sound?

I understood the sound was not working before you put the new card in, but if the old sound was on board, you would need to change that in the bios
