Hello, i'm about to purchase a new GPU. Readed about a brand new model of Nvidia (8800 GT) but also readed that about xmas this year they will be releasing the new 9800GTX.

I need to know if the 9800GTX is a fact or just a rumour, cos everywhere i read about it i see its a G92 card, but the new 8800GT is also a G92 card, and thats a fact. So, will Nvidia release a new beast anytime soon?? And will it be the 9800GTX?

Hope to get some answers quick hehe am dieingto get a new card. Thanks a lot ppl!

That specs were a true dream, wish they were true.

And of course i guess the new 8800GTS will be faster than 8800GT and old 8800GTS, true?

The original assumption was that the G92 was the 9800GTX. But Nvidia comes up with this 8800GT crap so... Nobody has any idea what the actually 9800GTX specs are

Yes the new GTS will be faster than the GT and old GTS

Reply to Silverion77

The new GTS(G92) should be even faster than an old GTX and if you overclock it you can probably be on par with the 8800 Ultra

Mmmmm is there anyplace to read new 8800GTS specs?? Cos i will be happy with the speed of 8800GT, but i wonder if the GTS or future GTX will add more things than speed, like directx 10.1, or OpenGL 3, or new shaders.

If they are the same card but diferent speeds i think i will go for a 8800GT.

Reply to Tass666

@ itotally...HAHAHAHA tooooo bad

The GTS will have 128 shaders while the GT has 112 (will create a pretty big difference)
2 slot cooler too......and higher clocks

Well that won't be until next year. I mean the new 8800GTS won't be much faster, if at all, than 8800Ultra right?

Wait for this "9800GTX" to come out next year. That's when I'll upgrade.

wow.... 2 slot cooler. How big do you nvidia will go until they realize that it wont fit in sli.
@sunny27
8800GT aint crap. The 8800GT crap means nvidia dissapointed me by releasing a 8800GT not a 9800GTX. But I guess they need time to develope

I think he finds the 8800GT crap because he knows that it's gonna give his 8800GTX a run for his money :kaola:

I wouldnt be so sure about this. Only a little higher clocks and couple more shader processors for this new GTS (G92).
It might give it a little boost but lets think about it this way.

This card is probably gonna be ~5% to (MAX) faster than the current 8800GT. Having in mind is gonna cost like $50, do you really think is worth it?

I still think NVIDIA is gonna give us another great card and that is gonna be decently faster. If I see the benchies really prove the card is really worthy, then Ill be getting one and OC the shut out of it.

A con... 2 slots :(

Pros.... probably even better temps than current 8800GT cause of fan size and even higher overclocks.

The post is 6 months old (the article), naturally it's all speculation.

Dam, whatever happens I just hope it comes out in time for Christmas. (I was going to get a 8800 gt sli pc but I think I'll wait and see what happens)

Heh, this post is outdated, cause now we ARE getting the 9800 cards!

In mid Feb NV plans to launch the next generation, the 9800 series. They will be high end cards though, so nothing cheap. Probably be--

9800GTX- $US 550-700
9800GTS- $US 300-450

Just a guesstimate, but probably not far off. Are the cards worth waiting for? Hard to say, we don't have any specs yet, the specs leaked earlier this year are just speculation.
Will the 9800 be better then the 8800GT? OH YEAH!!! Probably by a factor of 2x better or more, just for the GTS version. The GTX will probably be like 3x the power, but who knows =D

All we are getting this month is the enhanced 8800GTS. The 9800 is worth waiting for, only if you don't think you'll be happy with a 8800 (like if you are playing crysis lol).

the nvidia 9 series is a fact. However when it is coming out is not. However i have heard from a number of sources (i thought THG but i might have been hallucinating.. no joke) But i did hear from 5+ places, each saying February is the release date

*btw i didnt see the poster above me already post, but im glad someone else mentioned it

good thing i bought a HD2600XT as a temp card for my new rig, coz i was really aiming for the 8800GTX killer and i wasnt going to pay $750+ AUD for a november 2006 released vid card.

i can wait till february no problem =)

i dont think their will be a 9800gtx anytime soon, what about the 8900? or the 8950gx2 that would also b nice. Ati cards are struggling to beat the 8800gt...if it aint broken dont fix it!
