do i have to download it to a cd then use it at boot up ?

They would cause errors in the window while it doesn't through the CD. And sometimes the other way around. Stick to the ISO.

The best way, yes. Besides, the OS is already using up some memory, so there isn't any way to test the ram fully.

DOS boot? Right. You don't have to format it or anything though. Just download the ISO and burn it to a disk, that's all.
