Vista Wont Start

Ok so I tried to add another sata harddrive to my computer and when i restarted it, the drive that vista was on wasnt even shownig up so I took out the sata drive and tried to boot normally with just my c drive and cd rom drive and it showed up in Bios then when i tried booting to vista It came up to a blinking underscore in the top left corner that does nothing. So I researched the problem and I tried to boot from the Windows installation dvd to do a startup repair and do some tests but that just gets stuck at a black screen with a mouse cursor I can move around. I cant figure out the problem with it at all. I tried booting it on another computer and it does the same thing. I dont think its fried because the hard drive is still spinning and making no beep noises. I also had a google redirect on it and kept getting a blue screen of death and it was pretty slow. I have very important data on there that I never backed up. Some please HELP!!!

Sounds like something may have come loose. Doublecheck all the cables. If the HDD was fried, then these symptoms would fit. Try booting into the startup repair on the new drive with the old drive disconnected.
