hi i just wanted to know if intel plans to launch penryn processors that work on a 1066 fsb

since i have a 965 mobo and i dont want to replace it yet...

I'm sure some will...eventually. Intel will need some way to differentiate a Core 2 duo from a more mainstream Pentium/Celeron.

I don't see them doing that. You might be able to use one but at the lower FSB and then "overclock" it to hit the 1333MHz bus but you'd probably need a BIOS update and there is no guarantee that your motherboard manufacturer will provide one. What brand is the board?

hi my board is an intel p965lt :??:

i cant overclock with this mobo so i was wondering if there would be a 1066 fsb penryn to put
or it would be better to upgrade it to a p35

I think I heard that Intel will be releasing some "low end" Penrynns that will be 1066 much like some of the current low end chips are 800Mhz.

However, there really would not be much of a benefit to ugprade to the Penryn if you can OC the bus since those chips would not OC.

You would be better off just getting something like the Q6600.

"Wolfdale-3M" - these processors are a refresh to E4X00 line and will be released as E5X00. and they have 1066 bus speed
