Hey all,

Ok so I got a Gigabyte GA-81915P DUO MB. I just bought 2x80G SATA drives and am having a hell of a time trying to setup a RAID 0 install. Here are my questions, bear with me there's a lot.

1. Does it matter which SATA ports I use for a RAID 0 install, ie SATA 0,1,2,3. Or can the drives be plugged into any port ?

2. On this MB there is a VIA RAID chip, is this only for the older style IDE type hard drives or is this same chip used for SATA drives ?

3. The board is an Intel chip with "ICH6" is the Intel chip the chip that operates SATA RAID ?

4. I have the driver "SI3114" which I believe is the right driver for SATA RAID for this MB ? setup on a floppy, when installing WINXP I hit F6 to load a RAID driver, that all goes ok, I select WINXP as the operating system and off it goes installing WINXP.

5. Do you install Windows and then mirror the drive to the second drive using Windows or some other program ?

That'll do for now

Cheers

Found the problem, the cheap arse motherboard I bought to save a few dollars only has the ICH6 chip. It doesn;t support SATA RAID. Should of noted the little footnote in the manual that says only the DUO PRO has the ICH6R chip. Dumb ass I am.
