Greetings!

Since I cannot afford to buy a proper graphics card, I am currently planning on buying a "stop-gap" card. A graphics card that will fill up the void till I move out from home and buy my own PC. I have found two offers that could serve this pourpose.

On one hand, I have a offer of 6600 GT for 60 €. On the other, I have a offer for a serially overclocked 6800 GT with two ventilators for 88 €. My question is simple. Is the 6800 GT worth the additional 28 €?

Both graphic cards are AGP and I plan to use either at the 1024x768 resolution.

Lostandwandering is right. I have had both and the 6800GT is much better especially for the price difference.

I got another offer for a 7600 GS. Still need to negotiate a price but the person who is related to the seller says he will probably want 60 € for it.

One question. Do you think 60 € is too much for a 6600GT or 88 € for a overclocked 6800GT?

Is this 2007? Why would you pay 88 € for a 6800gt? For about the same price you could get a x1950gt or a 2600xt. (i assume you want AGP).

Em...where? Retail stores have the worser 7600 GS for that amount of money and the 2600XT for about 150 €.

Wow you really know European pricing

X1950Gt & 2600XT= €150 +. Why pay double for a dying format that could only get a maximum 30% incease in frame rates?

why cant he get a x1950something they are better performance than the 6800 and im not great on the conversions but you can get a decent one for around 120... its stupid to get either 6600 or 6800.

My God...those prices are insane for antiquated cards. Poor, poor Europeans. All the culture and none of the technology.

(Just kidding ;-) I couldn't resist)

Most definately sir.The 6800GT sports more pixel pipelines,(16,compared to 8 for the 6600GT).It sports 256 megs of ram with a 256 bit interface, running 2ns ddr3 memory. This is a nice card, but does get a tad warm. But to answer your question, yes,it is worth spending the extra few pounds.Goodluck.

I agree about the 6series being outdated...
I don't know how the prices on vidcards goes in Europe but can't you find an 8series or a HD2600XT? Here, it costs about the same as the 6800GT but performs much better...
