1. I have two 250gb hard drives on sata, one is a 250gb, sata 1.5, 8mb cashe seagate drive. The other is a 250gb, 16mb cashe, sata 3.0 western digital drive. are these compatable?
2. I run vista x64 on the WD drive and xp x86 on the Seagate, after I create the raid 0 could I create a partition and and run vista on 232gb and xp on the other 232gb (after formatting) ?
3. What would be the best data size for this set up? I think defult is 64kb, I play games and render here and there..
1. They're going to run at the lowest drives specs, so they will both go at 1.5. Personally I would never recommend RAID with drives like that which are quite different. It's best to stick with identical drives.
2. When you create the array, it will reformat. Then you can partition it if you like. You can then install any OS's you please upon the separate partitions.
3. Your cluster is best set to what you want to do. If you play games, anything between 8~16 is going to be for fast access. If you render, you may want to look at higher cluster sizes. 64k is a typical "desktop" approach. Overall, I would go for smaller clusters like 16k myself. Go for huge cluster if you move big files often. Probably not the case for you.
