Need to get two HD for this workstation (SunUltra 40 M2) and trying to decide if I should go with 2 146GB drives or 2 300GB drives.
I plan to keep it for a long time, but not sure how I will use all the space.

Its not possible to answer your question without knowing what you are trying to achieve. Do you need just raw speed? Do you need access time? What are you doing with this sytem? What file sizes will you be working with? Whats your budget? What controller will you be using? etc.

300 GB is not that big.
Depends on how you use it.

Myself, I have almost 300GB of ISOs of Software that I keep around for software testing.

Other folks have a hard time using 20gb.............

First, the 15k.6 is out, which is quite a bit faster, so if you can get those, I would. Since there is no speed difference between the 300 and the 146, either one should work. Look at how much space you will need with the specific applications you will be running. If you are unsure, go for the bigger ones, but if you will definitely only need a few gigs of space, there's no point in the 300.
