8 GB possible with EVGA 680i A1?

I have a question for any EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 owners out there or basically, anyone that just knows the answer. I'm running the NF68-A1 motherboard right now with a q6600 and 4 GB of Patriot RAM (DDR2 800) with all four dimms filled with 1 GB sticks. Even though the motherboard says it will only take 4 GB total with 1 Gb sticks max in each dimm, has anyone had any success putting in any 2 GB sticks in any of the dimms with it running fine? I was thinking of replacing the all the 1 GB sticks with 2 GB ones, still DDR2 800.

I have been trying to figure that out myself. evga mem specs and doc on the 680i a1 lacks in general.
