I have the opportunity to get a cheapish 7950 gx2 gfx-card, but since I will run it on a p35 or x38 motherboard, I wonder if it will work, since its supposedly SLI, and p35 and x38 only support crossfire. I tried searching this forum and also on the compatibility list for the 7950gx2 but couldnt find anything specific about p35 or x38 motherboards.
Since this card would only be used for a limited time, until either 8800GTs come in stock where I live, or possibly the next generation of 8800 gts/gtx are released, I am reluctant to do any sort of extra tweaking with hacked drivers or anything like that to get it to run.
If anyone know if, and how this card would run on p35 or x38 chipsets please share that info with me, educated guesses are fine aswell.
It'll be fine..It's still a single PCI-E slot card into which two cards are intergrated into. I had one before and was running it on a Non-SLI intel chipset. The X-fire/SLI really only means that the chipset supports 2x 16 PCI-E lanes and either Nvidia or ATI.
thats a deadly card replace it why ???? seems like a waste if your only gonna buy dx10 card at least wait for a 10.1 unless the new gts is 10.1 compliant but i didn't read that anywhere 2950 or whatever nvidia is putting out next
