So, as the the E8400 was out of stock everywhere like a week ago, I decided to go for it and buy the E3110. Glad I did. Just yesterday I was OC'ing just to see how far I could go with the crazy thing....I easily ended up with 4.5Ghz @ 1.3625 V. Now this came to my surprise as I did not expect this. The crazy thing had no problem even posting then. I'm almost positive this cpu might get to 5 Ghz....Which is insane!!!

I was curious if anyone else has been doing the same thing on air cooling. My CPU cooler is a TRUE.

3DMark06 score.....(drum roll) 15350

VGA -- 8800GTS 512 (of course its OC'ed)

The potential of these cpus are amazing indeed. Is it stable small FFTs for 8hours? What's your load temps?

:ouch:

Are you sure it is stable and cool enough though?

Highly doubtful, as that is a LOT of voltage for the 45nm procs. If you keep it there, buy a backup :p

Alright so, at 4.5, I can boot into windows and run superpi, at that voltage... At 4.3 GHz I can run 3dmark06 no problem at that voltage, not orthos stable though. I set orthos going last night on small FFTs, This morning it was 7.5 hours with highest temperature at 59C.

Ill keep you guys posted, Ill probably go further tonight with the voltage. Im not scared of it yet >:)

It's supposedly the same chip as the e8400 with xeon branding so it's not supprising it will do 4-4.5ghz based on the overclocking results I've seen. Though the voltage tolerance of these chips are still in question your heat looks good.

UPDATE:

13 hours of small FFTs testing with orthos. CPU is still stable, max temp is still 59C. I will be upping the OC tonight, stay tuned.

Can you tell me what frequency and voltage that is? I have the E3110 also with a Freezer 7

ya what cooler are you using?

Gratz!

I lied. I forgot I upped the voltage, I am at 1.375.

Stable as a rock though. Only problem now is my overheating VGA. Ugg, so disappointed in the DuOrb...

What is your max temp on the GPU during ATItools?

I forget, I think its somewhere around 60 C. But man, lemme tell you how Crysis brings the pain. Crysis some how pulls off a 78 C out the friggin card. Driving me crazy. I still think I am going to send back this cheapo cooler.

For the 45mm cpus intel recommends a max of 1.3625v that will maintain the proper life of the cpu. Its absolute max is 1.45v, where life will be reduced. Anything above is pure murder.

Im currently at 3.8ghz with 1.332v with max temps at 53C. Im not going over 1.3625v no matter what
