I haven't kept myself up to date regarding graphic cards and now I have a dilemma: I was thinking about buying a PC and have everything except the graphics. Due to a tight budget I can't go on and spend 400$ on graphics alone so I was thinking about following cards:
1. Club3D CGAX-XT266 ATI HD2600XT 256MB HDCP TV+2xDVI 800/2200MHz
2. Club3D XT262ZD AtiHD2600XT 512MB PCIx HDCP TV+2xDVI 800/1400MHz
3. Club3D HG862M GF 8600GT 512MB Dx10 HDCP CRT+TV+DVI Passive 540/800MHz
4. ASUS PCIx EN8600GT 2DHT/256M VGA/HDTV/DVI
5. ASUS PCIe EN8600GT Silent/2HTD/512M VGA/HDTV/DVI
They are all in the price range 150-200$ so that part doesn't make much difference. Does any1 have any experience with these models or knows a good link for benchmarks (since these models aren't shown on this site)?
I'm planning to use the PC for gaming purposes only.
Other components are:
CPU ATHLON 64 X2 5200+, AM2, BOX, DUAL CORE
ASUS M2N4-SLI, nForce4, AM2, 2xPCIeX, DDR2-800
2x DDR II 1 GB, DDR2-800 takeMS (only manufacturer available )
My advice - try to find an extra 70-80$ and buy an 8800GT. If that's not an option... Go with the ATI 3850 ($170-200) or 3870 ($200+). They offer good performance at a decent price, and I'm going to be honest - the only thing that 8600 has going for it is the fact that is supports HDCP.
Thanks for the reply rgeist, but what's bothering me is that the mem speed of ATI HD2600XT 256MB is 2200MHz instead of the 1100 offered in the benchmark. I don't know if that's a glitch on this site or if the same results apply for both types. Other than that, GeForce8800GTS PCIx 320MB GDDR3 is the only card offered on our market (Bosnia), and it's double the price of what I was asking about so it's kinda out-of-question for me right now.
