I'm building a Phenom Based HTPC (it will use the 9100e, 65 Watt Phenom). I was wondering if anybody has experience with the default heatsink/fan that comes packaged with AMD processors, are they loud?

If yes to the first question (or if nobody knows), can somebody recommend a Socket AM2 HSF that is quiet, but would still fit in the confines of a uATX motherboard?

Hey, I'm going to do the exact same thing. Have you actually seen a Phenom 9100e for sale? AMD says it will only be a system builder part. I hope this isn't the case, but we'll see.

Anyway, to your question. I've never used an AMD stock cooler, however, since this is only a 65W part the fan shouldn't have to be too robust, so I imagine it won't be excessively loud.

Phenom 9100e is AMD's Energy Efficient CPU, may be it does't include the default heatsink/fan in pack.

thermalright's HR01 is excellent for HTPC, you can built the Fanless Cooler for Phenom 9100e.
