Initial prices are always inflated by the reseller - give it some time and they should come down to AMDs recommended price point, which was inline with price/performance of the q6600.

Hopefully it won't take too long for it to happen, 'cause AMD could do with the sales.

Actually, isn't $259 the exact 9500 price mentioned in reviews? I don't think it's being gouged at all, in fact it's spot on.

I don't know $ prices, but THG's most recent phenom article has the Euro prices, which fall in line with the Q6600 (at time of the article anyway).

9500 @ 169 euro recommended
9600 @ 190 euro recommended

Q6600 @ 220 euro at time of article

OK, $259 is not the official price, $251 is. But that is tray price in lots of 1000, so you would expect Newegg to markup the price a bit, they are running a business after all. ;)

Then there's the pricing; at 2.2GHz the Phenom 9500 will set you back $251, and at 2.3GHz you'd have to part with $283.

Looking at your Euro prices, I would say it's the Q6600 that is being price gouged!
