Ive just brought this hard drive - HERE

When using DiskSpeed32 it says
Avr. access time: 19.6ms
Read burst speed: 182.0 mbps
Avr. read speed: 90381 kBytes/s

I also have the 320GB version of the hard drive which i brought a while ago, DiskSpeed says
Avr. access time: 9.4ms
Read burst speed: 190.5 mbps
Avr. read speed: 161357 kBytes/s

Big difference :/ might the new drive be faulty?

My motherboard supports SATA2 (ASUS M2N32-SLi Deluxe)

never mind :P seems that DiskSpeed32 isnt very accurate, HD Tune gives about the same results for both drives

Access time: 13.4ms
Burst rate: 128 MB/s
Avr. read speed: 62 MB/s (thats throughout the whole drive, max 80MB/s, min 38 MB/s)

hey buddy

to be honest i'm not quite happy with my WD Hdd although mine is the 2500KS model and i do also own the same motherboard as u do (M2N32-SLi Deluxe)

My dissatisfaction is that my Socket A pc (Asus A7N8X-E DLX) has a Seagate SATA/1 HDD in it and i find that Windows boots faster on it than my M2N32-SLI and WD 2500KS

actually, the problem was that the AAM was set to the lowest on the 5000AAKS and i think it was on the lowest when i got the 320GB version, that was about a year ago (the DiskSpeed32 program still isnt very accurate, gives all kinds of random things)

Might have been the reason why your 2500KS wasnt performing to well

13-14ms sounds about right - if it was 9.4, it'd be about the fastest 7200RPM drive ever made, and 19 would be horrendous.
