More Information

I am looking to set up a dual boot with xp and vista ultimate 64bit. I briefly tested out vista and had some trouble with my audigy2 zs card when I tried to setup the 3d sound. It could be because I did not have the alchemy software or that the drivers were basically released when vista was released and not updated since that time. To avoid that and because it is probably time to upgrade the sound card now that I have done everything else, I started looking into a new card to get. It is hard to find good information about the differences between the cards though. That leaves me with a few questions that I need to find answers to. Right now I am considering the X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatality.

What is the big difference between the different x-fi cards? I think I saw something one time about one doing more work software side than others. I know the higher end ones have the x-ram, so is that useful?

What is the real difference between the Audigy line and the x-fi?

How is the support with xp and vista with the x-fi cards and do the cards now come with alchemy included in the purchase?

Is there something better than the x-fi cards now I should be looking at instead?

Thanks for any help.
