help ive just reinstalled windows xp on my laptop and its running so slow now it takes explorer about 5 min to load

Boot into the BIOS, and look for options like hard drive delay, quick boot, and make sure your hard drive is the first boot device. In windows, download winpatrol 2010, and check your startup programs.
