Is it worth the upgrade ?

I currently have AMD Phenom II 945 and I am thinking of upgrading to Intel i5 2500k. The problem is, I'll be using this PC for just one more year then I'm off to college and I'll be using it during the breaks only then. So I need you to tell me if it's worht it

Yeah, I already saw that, and when I saw that it's on sale it made me want to buy it.

So, is it worth it ?

If u use the PC daily for more than just net browsing, I would do it.

U can always sell it, especially when u can get it for the good price.

In your situation I'd say no. Usage vs. expense doesn't justify it IMO

Save that money for top ramen in college and going out. =p

I still have some money I've put aside (I first planned to buy a guitar, but I didn't).

But if you paint a clearer picture of what you plan to do in that year(with the computer/gaming etc.) it would help.

Lots of programming and modeling sure, go for it. But gaming is more dependent on the gpu at typical resolutions today, i.e. 1080p and the 840 would game fine.
