More about display properties
  1. I want to make sure I understand this right. When you right click on the desktop, there's no properties link? Or are you missing the 'settings' tab inside the properties link?
  2. Display Properties only has a themes tab
Downloaded the fix from Kelly's korner to restore all display tabs. Nothing
    Did the Start Regedit.exe:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

In the right-pane, set the following values to 0 if found:

    NoDispAppearancePage
    NoThemesTab
    NoDispBackgroundPage
    NoDispScrSavPage
    NoDispSettingsPage

If none of the above Policies are set (in both of the locations above), but
the display properties tabs are still missing except for the Themes tab, try
these commands from Start, Run dialog:

    regsvr32 themeui
    regsvr32 /i shell32

Restart Windows. This fixed the problem for me but you can also go to
