From what i have heard and read SP3 for XP will be little more than an accumilation of hot fixes security updates and out of band releases together with a few new updates.
What i would like to know is when the new "Drop dead" date for XP to be installed on new PC's is they originally set it for 30 Jan 2008 but you can still order a systenm with XP OS but it must be getting close.

That'll be the only time I'm interested in Vista.
I just hate the fact that it's so resource hungry, I'd probably be there now otherwise...

Well yes it does want more in the way of resources than XP but no more so than when XP came out every body was singing the same song back then also.
Take Graphics cards 32/64/128/256/512MB Ram It seems that as the tec gets better it just needs more to perform.
I do think that we are nearly over the hill with this Bigger /more = Better though, Every thing is getting die shrunk meaning cheaper to make/Buy/Run. They(AMD/INTEL) recon to be starting on combined CPU/GPU packages by 2009 like Fusion and Harlem. So assumably once they can make them small enough every thing will be done on the CPU.

yeah, but I want an OS to OPERATE my SYSTEM. If I wanted something pretty, I would play a game or something. Spiderman 3 looks amazing, but I would hardly expect it to keep all my files and programs interfacing well.
