Do you have the latest drivers? Make sure it's taking advantage of dual gpus.
April 3, 2008 7:12:54 PM

Ya I dropped all my drivers last night, used driver cleaner, installed all up to date drivers... still my cpu scores low.

ARe you sure all four cores are working? This seems like it is the problem.

cpu score low? What temp is it running at? Maybe it ran too high and is getting throttled back to 6x multiplier during tests. On the other hand, what's your vcore? Maybe it's too low and cpu is hitting errors during test, but not enough to break threads. What's stability after oc? How long stable running time on prime95?
April 3, 2008 7:33:32 PM

CPUz shows 4 cores, Windows is showing 4 affinities, performance tab on task manager shows the 4 cpu's
April 3, 2008 7:35:24 PM

I've ran prime95 for about 15 minutes with no problems. then 3d mark.. runs at about 55c at load, 41c idle. My vcore i cannot say right now because i'm not at home but its at stock... prolly something like 1.25?

I haven't tried prime for any longer than 15 minutes.
April 3, 2008 7:45:09 PM

::chuckles.:: Nice, you need to run prime for hours to make sure things are stable, because each test does different things to that processor of yours! There are one or two that crank the heat up higher than the other tests, and there are some that just take alot of current to run.

If you didnt adjust VCore and test for hours, who knows what it will do!

Ok i'll mess with vcore alittle and i'll prime over night tonight and get back with you guys tommarow thanks for any help. However I don't see my temp getting above 49c while running 3dmark06. Also forgot to mention that my q6600 is b3 steppings.
April 3, 2008 8:49:44 PM

Kewl, a B3! Can you do me a favor and set the VCore to auto, disable speedstep, put the FSB back on 266 and boot her up, run core temp version 0.96.1 and list the VID of that B3!! Then just for GP, run primes small ftts, and make sure the value in the VID box doesnt change, then post me that VID, please?

That does make a difference on your OC, as the B3's usually need more power, and produce more heat than the G0.

Then test with prime to make sure your selected vcore for 3.0 is stable. You wont really need much for 3.0, maybe a few clicks in the bios.

Yeah but are all four cores being taxed during a stress test?

How are you @ 3.2ghz with stock volts? Doesnt make much sense!

"prolly something like 1.25?" means he/she doesn't know. Chances are it was left on auto, and vcore is running dangerously high by now. :na:

So yeah, that thing should be looked at right away. :p
April 4, 2008 1:03:36 PM

In the gladiator bios the vcore default value is 1.25v... I ran prime for about 2 hours it was stable.. read some more gave it 1.35v ran prime all night on 4threads and smallftts ~10 hours no errors.
Max temp was 62C. Results in 3dmark06 CPU score 2,450 (still way lower than it should be)

The reason I said prolly 1.25? because I made this thread while at work and couldn't remember that default value. Its definently not on auto.
April 4, 2008 7:25:51 PM

Yes you are right... that is way lower than it should be. I think windows isnt utilizing all four cores even though it shows that it is. I have heard about this problem before and what the guy did to fix it was re-format.
April 5, 2008 2:53:59 PM

Formatting got my cpu score back up to 5,050 now to figure out why my video card isn't scoring what its supposed to be
April 5, 2008 4:49:47 PM

OK Guys i have found the issue i was having just wanted to post my results...

the 8.3 ati driver on 32bit xp causes low cpu scores and low scores all around.. my score was 12,500

Installed 8.2 beta drivers for xp and wam 17,000 3d marks
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=6111246

So if someone else has this same issue with the 3870x2 get the 8.2 beta driver and test again.
April 5, 2008 4:53:58 PM

if its on stock maybe the low cpu score.i overclock my cpu to 3.15ghz score about 5xxx.so if stock 2.4ghz 2xxx-3xxx is about right.and what you getting for your 2 graphics score??
April 5, 2008 4:54:51 PM

sorry didnt read your last reply.thats why i never got a AMD/ATI card because the driver is always not upto scratch!*sigh*!!!

Nvidia has had it's fair share of "crap" drivers!
April 5, 2008 7:22:57 PM

of course it has at the past.but now Nvidia had learn their lesson they develop the driver for new cards before they even come out.so when the new card is out in the market its ready to work with virtual no problem in most application.

no doubt on paper AMD have the more powerful card.but as you can see in 3dmark 06 and real application benchmark.the 3870x2 have more horsepower then any Nvidia card has to offer.but the driver from Nvidia is more optimise for their card then AMD thats why real game it has lower FPS then Nvidia card.
April 5, 2008 7:34:59 PM

Wow... Look at my avatar man! You think I'm an Nvidia fan? Probably! So I wouldnt go around lightly bashing the company and their products. Especially since I own 2 8800GT cards. Nvidia does not deliver a great product IMO> i've only recently come to this conclusion too. First off they rushed the G92 card out to the public in Oct so that Crysis and 8800GT would be profitable. What's the best thing to do when a graphic intense game comes out? Release a new card for a great price. I give them the benefit of the doubt for releasing new architecture (which should have at least been branded 8950gt or 9800gt) but with a beta driver that couldnt even play crysis @ DX10 without crashing? Come on! Slow down and release a quality product and quit trying to flood the market with all these "brands". ATi is guilty of the same thing! immature drivers and flooding the market with "brands" of cards that are not much better than the past. This is only IMO used to confuse the average consumer. I'll be talking with a buddy at work and they'll be talking about "I just got the fastest card on the market... a 2900XT and I got it for $400" and I'll be like "yeah that was a great choice retard" This is when 3870 was on the horizon for half the price! I know they should be doing their research but it's a partial fault for ATI/Nvidia flooding the market with brands.

But in the end... It's all about what's profitable for the company. Screw the consumer!
April 5, 2008 7:54:25 PM

lol i like your view but money does the talking so you know.it would be great for hournalist and reviewer and say about the card.not in consumers' view not so great.
April 6, 2008 3:29:20 AM

I would just like to say that other people on xp 64 bit and all vista os's are not having this problem with the 8.3 driver from what I read.. just the guys on xp 32.
