hi
i m new here
there is problem in my ide hdd
so i want to formate it.but i want to copy all data to my friend's pc
but he have sata drive so i can't detect my hdd to his pc

plz advise me

Can't connect or detect? He should still have at least one IDE connector. Maybe his CD/DVD is plugged into it. Unplug the CD and plug your drive in there. You may need to go to the manufacturers website and get the proper jumper configuration.

You might want to post the specs of his machine/mobo, in order to get more accurate advice.

If he only has SATA, which would indicate an OEM PC, then you will need a SATA to PATA adapter, which are not reliable.

The other option is to get a USB external HD enclosure and go that route.

dont get a sata pata adapter.. get a ide USB external enclosure here's one for $7

cheep enough and then u can always use it later for transport of data

What do you think the odds are that his drive is a 3.5" and not a 2.5"? :-) :p



His idea is still a good one though, just find a housing for a 3.5 inch drive.
