Hi. I don't know anything about computers and want a computer for games. I found a poster on campus for this computer.

Pentium 300
120 megs
4000 megs
voodoo graphics

They wanted $700 and I put a $300 deposit on it. Later on someone told me I can't play new games with this computer. Where can I take it to make it faster once I own it?

it should be 120GB hard drive and 4GB of memory i supposed and it might be a Pentium 4 @ 3.00GHz or a Pentium D at 3.00GHz and iyou should get more info about that computer cuz it seems to be somewhat old

That computer is worth less than 50 bucks and is almost 10yrs old. For 700$ you could get a nice system. I'm not sure if you are joking here or what. You can't even play games that have came out in 2000. Hell that thing would be a pain just to type a report and research the report on the internet - it might be to hard on it.

Sorry. They said 128 megs, not 120. Also, they said they didn't know if it was a Pentium 2-300 or Pentium 3-300, but that either would be good for games. Thats all I had written down. I would have to call to find out more.

Oh, and its internet ready.

Actually 50$ would be to much for it thinking about it. You could find it in a junk yard for free (ya its that bad).

The only games it is good for is solitary.

i'm so sorry i'm going to have to say this. WTF that mother ripe you off big time. Please hope you can get back your money. That computer is so old it might even have trouble playing runescape. With that money go to bestbuy and buy decent crap not aging dying crap. Because if i suggest building your own you might get out soap and clean the computer.

Its that bad??? He said I could play some good games with that computer. I don't know how to build one, but I found that poster. I'll see if I can get my money back, or get him to throw in a monitor. He has a 15 inch monitor for like $75 or something.

Oh, it comes with windows 2000 too.

All those number and things you guys are saying don't really mean anything to me but its clear I'm getting the short end of the stick. I took the list and went to Radio Shack and told the gentleman there to give me a newer version of the computer on the list. He said I would need geforce eight graphics and not voodoo, as voodoo doesn't even make graphics anymore??? He said he didn't have the pentium either, but had something made by the same company thats better anyways. The cheapest computer they had though was about $1200. Thats almost twice as much as the other computer!

I'm still trying to get my deposit back on the other computer, but the guy isn't answering his phone.

You got ripped! You can better buy a new computer instead of that upgrading that one, because it's a waste of money then.

Search on the internet and take a look in webstores and look what systems they are selling for $700. Search on this forum to get a good view of what pc you can get for $700.

I wonder why!

Dude, next time ask BEFORE you give a deposit. And BTW since this guy is a crook, he will most likely NOT return your deposit, and by law, he doesn't have to.

That computer he tried to sell you isn't worth its weight in SALVAGE.
