:hello:  I want to overclock my e2160 but it idles at 45 C on stock, so I'm going to get a better cooler for it. I can get a Cooler Master Hyper Tx2 for $15 on ebay, should I get it? I was also looking at Arctic Freezer 7 pro but it's not on the frostytech charts. And I know the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 is the new hot thing but this TX2 seems to be a really good deal. Opinions?
PS I want to get to at least 3 ghz I read all the guides and such :)

Yeah, the Cooler Master Hyper Tx2 is decent, and at $15 it is a good deal. AF7 should be better, but it probably can't beat the TX2 for price/performance at $15.

You can do better than than idling at 45 for sure: even on stock. How's your case fans?

i woyuld agree that you can do better than 46 on stock... That's higher than my load temps on stock, and i only have an ACF7 pro, and 2 120mm case fans...

your idle on stock is abit high.but since you are planning to get a TX2 so dont waste any more time on the stock intel HSF.

Actually, the 2160 runs extremely hot, even on Idle, if I remember, the core temp limit is near 100C. Mine gets up to 80C+ with an aftermarket cooler.

hum thats pretty interest.because the Q6600 have twice the core and doesnt run as hot.i wonder why is that.anyone one?

Either you improperly seated the heatsink or the surface of the cooler/ IHS isn't flat or even too much/little TIM. THG did a review on the E2160 and they managed to OC the E2160 to 3.2GHz on stock cooling with respectable temps.

i agree with evilonigiri

core 2 processor doesnt run that hot doesnt matter if you are running on stock cooling.try reseat the heatsink both of you.a Q6600 load at 6xC with 4 core on 2.4Ghz.so stock DUAL CORE CPU doesnt run that hot!

I have a Centurion 5 (the one with a side window) it has an 80mm pulling in and a 120mm pushing out, my cabled are decently managed only a few running across the middle.
I didn't win the auction.
Another question I have is: would it be better to try and get some better case fans? Maybe Antec tri cool?

Case sounds OK.
Get the new CPU cooler, see how that works first.
Personally I wouldn't get the TX2 - It's loud and runs full speed all the time, no pwm, even if your mobo supports it, and I like a quiet pc. I'm very happy with the AF7 though.

I'm looking for a good deal on af7 on ebay.
If it doesn't work out i'll just save up for xigmatek
