Yep got this strange error after partitioning my hard disk. Once it came to actually formatting each partition, the C foratted find but D would not support.

This is a new hard disk as the other one died.

System I'm running is

AMD Athlon 2.8
Asus K8V SE Deluxe
ATI Radio 9800 Pro 256MB
Maxtor SATA II 300 80g <--new

The system is about 3 years old.

Do I need to update or reset the bios? I must also point out that I'm only running one hard disk. There are no pins on the Hard Drive and I've left the MOBO to figure out the boot master.

I must add the the old hard drive was a Maxtor SATA II 150 80g so slightly different.

I'm using Windows XP Pro. I only have 1 hard disk installed which is the new one so not running a raid. I've made two partitions on the one single drive. I can format the C partition just fine but D just wont format at all.

The C partition I've set to 20% and D to 80%.

This is a new hard drive so thats the only change I've made to the system. I'm going to try and do a fresh install from the Windows CD and see what happends.

Like I said earlier my first suspicion that something was amiss was when the BIOS wasn't registering the drive correctly.
