Windows XP 32 bit on a SATA HDD

I ditched my IDE drive and purchased a SATA2 drive. Will I be able to install Win XP 32 fresh on this drive via CD? I have a SP2 CD. I am afraid I will need a SP3 CD for SATAT driver support.

I was going to order a SP3 install CD from Microsoft until I noticed the shipping options. 1 to 3 weeks for delivery. I don’t want to wait that long and I am looking for other options.

You'll be just fine. SP2 has the SATA support.

If you want, you can download SP3, and slipstream it into your XP disc. Check out nlite for that.

Is ‘slipstream’ just burning a CD and replacing the SP2 ISO with a SP3 ISO?

Sort of. It allows you to add or remove parts of the software, and then burn a copy.
