I have an compaq presario 2100. s/n: cnf4291jmm p/n: pf180ua#aba and it also says presario 2104US...not sure. Anyway, in it I have a 30gb hard drive that has a number MK3025GAS, which i searched for on the internet and found this:
Now, I like this one because it has more hard drive space. My question is; what am I looking for when Im searching for a new notebook hard drive. Is it just the interface; such as interface ATA/100? I am a little new to notebooks so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

The thing that is confusing me is the connector on many of the hard drives that I see on the internet have a male pin connectors on them. My dead hard drive does not. It has a female connector.

Go to this website and you will see that your drive has pins once you remove the connector bar. There is a frame around your harddrive and the connector bar that you will need to take off your old drive and put on your new one.
