Seems like NVIDIA managed to get more GPUs out to the card manufacturers finaly.Took them long enough.Anyhow, the store I deal with here informed me yesterday that mine will be in by monday at the latest.Took long enough.Had it ordered 2weeks ago.Looking to see if I made the right choice, but I believe I have.Anyways, good to hear things are getting back on track.Guess NVIDIA will make the x-mas rush after all.LOL.

Thats weird. When you search for the 8800 GT Newegg only has the MSI in stock. But when you click on the individual names of the cards, even though it says auto-notify, it says you can buy 3 of them, 2 evgas and 1 PNY.

Best way to search is to use the POWER SEARCH option and it will let you search for specific GPUS - in this case 8800GT and 3870
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 79%3A33729

3 models of 3870 @ $250+ and 6 models of 8800GT @ $270+ as of this post.
Pretty good stockage ATM.

They're all still in stock as of 9:00 AM EST, December 1st. My brother grabbed the eVGA Superclocked (ie: 650 mhz/$290), so I'll be able to see how this beast performs first hand.

Anybody know the name of that software that helps you tune the fan speed? Does messing with the fan speed void your warranty/step up?

That's expensive for that KO. I had an amazon preorder for one at $279 shipped free. I just cancelled it as 1 month to the day and no sign of it shipping before Christmas. Got the BFG at BB for $249 instead.

I just read an article at Digitimes about AMD lowering their price by $20 for the 3800 series cards. It then goes on to say how in response to that Nvidia is also considering a price reduction. I have been holding out waiting for the new 8800gts/1 gig memory (92) becuase I play games at 1080p on a 61" dlp. After reading this it looks like waiting until after the new year will be best for the wallet. There will be a better supply and a lower MSRP. There will be big time price gouging before Christmas on the new 8800gts cards. I can't get myself to pay higher than MSRP for a video card.

If you play games on a 61" DLP, can't you afford the extra $20?

what is the new model that is coming out. the G92 or something like that. I am unsure as to what to buy with ATI/NVIDIA having new releases next month or so. I am interested in the 3800 x2 series by ATI yet NVIDIA is still dominant. I have been building a system and all I have left to get is a video card. I like to game alot but the system is used for telecommuting as well. here are my specs;

motherboard Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R ( only 1 PCIE x16)
ram OCZ ATI crossfire certified 4 x 1 gig sticks PC800 CAS 4-4-4-15
nic Bigfoot killer nic
Agiea physix card
case ANTEC 900 5 x 120mm 1 200mm fan
PSU ANTEC quattro true power 1000 watts
hard drives 2x SANSUNG 500 gig SATA 2 16meg drives
Optical ASUS DVDRW - DL SATA 2 drive
INTEL Q6600 G0 stepping
heatsink Thermalright Ultima - 90 with 1 scythe 120mm fan
LCD BenQ FP94VW 22 inch

( I am going to change all my 120mm fans to something that will do 80CFM - to something a little over 100CFM and 1 92mm fan that I can add aditionally to the heatsink with the 120mm fan to do a push pull effect).

Games- Crysis, Call of duty 4, Bioshock, Half life 2, Company of heros and opposing force, Lost planet, Call of jarez, Quake wars,

I want to play games with performance, detail and quality in mind as well as video conferencing when my wife needs it. Sorry for jumping in to ask my question but I really do not know Video cards well except by reviews I find on the web and they don`t exactly match in details.
Any help is greatly needed and Appriciated, I would like to know if I should buy for christmas;( what brand and model), or wait untill the new lineup of ATI/NVIDIA/AGEIA - GEQUBE, VISIONTECK, ECT...) will come out, I would like to get something that will last untill the new socket changes by INTEL or if AMD gets better.

Again brand does not matter ( ATI/AGEIA/NVIDEA); Only something that will do what I want it to do so any and all advice/suggestions are welcome. looking forward to your replies.

Thank you,

Get a SINGLE nVidia g92 GTS. Crossfire/SLI is a PITA in my experience.

I hate to say it but no, at the present time I can't afford it. I work in real estate an times have been tough to say the least. When I purchased the dlp money was not an issue. Now it is. Between price gouging and lower retail price, it makes a difference. At the moment every penny counts. Oh, how times can change.

Do no change all your fans in the Antec 900 case. Absolutely no need to do that.

Agiea physix card - save your money & use it on a better motherboard and GPU.
-> NONE of the games you listed are on the Ageia PhysX supported list: http://www.ageia.com/physx/titles.html

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3P Rev 2.0 (unless you need COM and LPT ports?) Has 2 PCI-e x16 slots (1x16, 1x4 allows for possible future CF setup - a nice option to have. But to be honest a single top end GPU is almost always the best choice.)

PSU - 850 watts is good - 750 watts is better even 750 will be plenty. Best is Corsair 620HX @ $150 or PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Quad @ $180 [:wr2] or other high quality PSU in the 650-750 watt range and $150-$180 range. You want a good PSU with plenty of power but you dont want to downgrade your GPU for a higher price PSU. Going from a good 600+watt PSU to a 1000watt PSU will get you ZERO increase in "performance, detail & quality" while gaming.

Thermalright Ultima - 90 and C2Q 6600 are an excellent match and will be happy in the Antec 900 case.
SAMSUNG Spinpoint T 500GB good choice. Get 1 for now.

Video card for the games you listed @ 1680x1050 resolution of your 22" LCD monitor. 8800GTX its still the best available and if you can afford it you'll get the BEST performance, detail and quality available in the games. A single G92 8800GTS/512MB doesnt match the GTX (check an early review here G92 8800GTS review. A replacement for the 8800GTX is rumored to be coming out in 2008 (maybe Feb/Mar?).
