hi,
first time poster here so please be gentle!! :) i have used tom's hardware charts for years but have never bothered to join the forums. do not know why but here i am now. anyhow, i am in the market for a hard drive and have it narrowed down to these 2 drives -
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822152100 SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD753LJ 750GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6822136283 Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS 750GB
the main reason for the drive is speed plus i want to try out 32mb cache drive. i know about the debate on if it helps or not between 16 vs 32. the samsung is on tom's charts but the WD is not. i keep hoping it will be added soon. thank you in advance to all that reply.

The WD will outperform the Samsung and is probably a more reliable drive as well. The Samsungs haven't had the most glowing track record on the 750GB or 1TB models. They've also had some firmware problems.

I agree with you here. Western Digital is a good choice, definitely. I like the F.A.Q database which Western Digital has also. Over 1000 answers to "common questions". :-)
