I'm a noob trying to overclocking and about to buy a Q6600 quadcore. I plan to get 4 gigs of ram... My question is... I heard somewhere that when you OC that its better to get RAM as 2 x 2gb sticks vs 4X 1gb sticks. Is this true?

Also on a side note..which motherboard would you get to OC the q6600 p35, 650i, or 680i? ( I dont plan to SLI)( But was wondering if its worth it to get the 650i or 680i if it makes overclocking any easier since im a noob) Thanks.

NOOOOO! You dont want a 6xxxi chipset if you get a q6600. They dont work well. If you want an easy OC session, get a 150 dollar p5k-e wifi.

They say that when you use two sticks of ram, its easier to OC, because when you add the other two for a total of four sticks of ram, the actual signal from the board to the ram gets split 4 ways with 4 sticks, but onlt split two ways for 2 sticks. so get the 2 x 2 sticks, that way you have upgradability for later!
