I have set the boot sequence in the Pheonix BIOS for this 2 yr old PC to have the CD as first choice - but for some reason it still boots off the HD . The CD disk is bootable as tried it on another PC . This is what I have managed to find out (from Device Manager ) . HD is WDC 1600JS60NCB1 - doesn't say if it's IDE or SATA . The CD/DVD entry has 2 . One with a red cross is Generic Stealth DVD SCSI CD-ROM . Second ( no red cross ) is HLDTST DVD ROM GSAHION SCSI . From XP , dvd's can be read and run . Am trying to boot mtest and WDC Diagnostics .
What could be the problem ?
keep your first boot device set to CD ROM and try to set all the other boots to nothing (second boot, third boot device etc.) im not not surewhether it will work, but worth a try
Are you trying to boot from a cd or a dvd? I am having a problem booting to a dvd which boots on my other system but will not boot on my ESC k7s5a. CDs boot okay. I am investigating but have not found an answer yet. Do not know if it is my burner or the mb or the bios.
