Hey all,
lol i've recently started a new job and finally have some money to throw around on a new gaming rig. I have few queries though. Firstly il detail my hopeful system:
Q6600
**2gb Team Xtreem DDR800 3-3-3-8 ($209 i think)
**Asus P5k Deluxe ($289 i think)
i'm an Aussie btw so these r Aus. prices
I've chosen these to ** parts with the intention of OC'ing. I've read some reviews saying this mobo is pretty good and some sights say they have used it to OC the q6600 to 3.6 (i no its rather high, i have no intention of going this high, maybe 3-3.4). But what i'm not sure on is this Team Xtreem ram. i chose it because it has tight timings and has good review.
I'd just like to receive some feedback on these to parts and if they are right for the job.
I don't really wana spend more then $300 on the motherboard or $250 on ram.
G.Skill DDR2-800 2X 2GB set (4Gb) is on sale on NewEgg with email promo code for $69 USD.
G.Skill and Patriot ram are the OC'ers pick over overpriced Corsair/OCZ ram.
Also forget Ausus for a MB and go DFI...worlds OC ribbion holder every year (and they also live longer becuase of better class parts used).
If you want to spend top $ for anything then do so on your PSU...PC Power & Cooling may seem to cost more but NOTHING is in it's class.
All units are rated under 100% load and @ higer temps than all others.
A PC P&C Turbo 510 unit is more solid and puts out more constant power than an OCZ 700.
Team Xtreem ram is just another offshoot of chips bought from Patriot in California.
Go with G.Skill or Patriot branded name products for both prefomance and price and don't become a victem of Corsair/OCZ over priceing and advert tactics.

thanks dude. I didn't think Newegg was international? I was looking at getting 4gb too but didnt think it was really worth it atm. I was hoping sum1 would say DFI, its my favourite brand of mobo. I'll check out some Aussie shops to see the prices, is there any DFI model in particular?
I realized this year how important the PSU really is, i was going to go for a thermaltake "tough power 650watt".
And for the cooler i was going 2 get a Zalman V9700 or watever but i was also checking out the Slyth Ninja 1
