My dell dimension 1900 desktop wont play or burn dvds

i there can any one please help. my dell dimension 1900 stoped burning dvds and it wont play any dvds it just keeps telling me to insert a disc into the tray so it is not reading them. i tryed to update the software drivers and i tryed deliting the upper and lower filters but still not working can any one help. thanks neil
