Hello,

I was going to buy http://www.elektroni.fi/?product=7960

for this system:

Q6600 @ at least 3GHz
GeForce 8800 GTX (maybe slight overclocking)
ASUS P5N-E SLI
4GB DDR2
6xFANS which most are LED (3x120mm and 3x80mm)
1xSATA HDD
1xATA HDD
plus a couple of usb devices such as keyboard, mouse, printer, ...

What do you think? Am I pushing my PSU to the limits or will this 700W do the trick just fine?

More about : ocz gamexstream 700w

Hello mate :)

Yeah OCZ GAMEXSTREAM 700W is a solid PSU and will handle that rig+OC fine, also i know remember that this PSU is one of the fewest 700W PSUs which can handle 2 8800GTX in SLI mode

Sweet. Nice to hear. I have an OCZ GameXStream 700W sitting in my closet collecting dust. Didn't realize it's a sweet PSU. Once I upgrade my video card, I'll probably need it in my Dell system. My curren't PSU is 400 something watts. I'm pushing it enough as it is. I got the OCZ PSU for my old system, which I scrapped for spare parts. It was overkill anyway. But saved the PSU as I thought I might need it later for something.

Which Dell system do you have ?

It's an XPS 410. Called tech support and they said it uses a standard ATX PSU.

i'll ask the inevitable question for this forum, why did you buy a dell when you could build it yourself?

I built my last system myself. Truth is I was short on cash at the time, and Dell has a payment plan for new systems. Well, got it payed off and I'm happy with it. My next system I'll build myself.

Yes it does, and with the Quad cpu in it upgrading the psu is advisable, other's really don't require it but since you have one......
The Dell psu is taller than standard, but poses no problem with upgrading other than a gap at the bottom of the psu opening.

I just put the OCZ 700W PSU in my Dell XPS 410, and it works fine, and it's quieter too! :D

agreed... i definately wouldn't buy a dell for my own use unless it was super cheap. I was going to say i wouldn't buy a dell period but i've owned well over 100 dells !

anyhow... i just built a system and have the 700w gamexstream and just started wondering today if its the cause of my random blue screens.

I have a q9450, 2gb ddr3-1333, gigabyte galaxy water cooling, 2 150gb raptors,2 hd 3870's, 2 dvdrws and 3-4 case fans running...

I put this into a power consumption calculator and it came out w\ 563w ... but i've had it randomly shut off twice or 3 times when i had WOW running and wwhen i checked the heat on the video cards it was fine.. cpu is at stock right now i think.

I ordered a corsair hx1000 today though, and even if the 700 is enough i can get all those funky cables out of my pretty case!
