More Information

I have an A7N8X Deluxe. I'm not the most technically skilled but I can generally get stuff done with general common sense.

One of my two 512mb sticks of ram died so I went ahead and replaced it and my computer does not detect the ram. I've always used PC3200 400mhz DDR1 on the computer, so that's what I got.

My problem is the old ram is PC3200 400Mhz DDR1 64x8 and the new ram is PC3200 400Mhz DDR1 128x4.

While I'm fixin to try and send the ram back to the person I purchased it from, I'm wondering if there isn't something else that I can do to make it work, like bios settings (or updating my bios) or something.

I'm confused.

I've got that MOBO too. I can't find the darn manual though. I don't know the answer to your question but have you tried putting the new stick in a slot not linked for dual channel. Put one in a blue slot and one in a black? Or whatever the colors were, I can't remember.

128 x 4 is different. Probably high latency, cheaper stuff. Should have come to us first. But don't feel bad; I've made the same mistake.
