2nd build $1000 budget ...please advise!

Second build- Original is a P4 2.8ghz on a ASUS board
My thoughts on the my second build with a $1000 budget
CPU-Intel Quad Core 2.4ghz
GPU-EVGA GeForce 8600GTS
Mobo- Gigabyte GA-P35 DS3L
Ram- G.Skill 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (2 X 1gb)
Case-Antec Sonata 3
HDD- Seagate Barracuda 7200 250GB 16MB Cache SATA
OS- MS Vista Home Premium 32 Bit

Had some help with first build but will attempt the second by myself
Any advice would be appreciated!

Go with an ATI 3850 video card, it is loads better (20-30% faster) than the 8600GTS and at the same price or cheaper.

Also, why not go 64 bit on Vista? It will allow you to upgrade your ram later without having to upgrade your OS as well.

If your gonna go Vista go all the way and get 64 bit. I also recommend the 3850 or 8800GT video card

3 votes HD3850. 8800GT would be the best bang for now.

whats the advantage of Vista 64 bit over 32 bit?

For starters, 64-bit supports more than 4 gigs of ram. 32-bit does up to 3 to 3.5gb.
