I was wondering that is it possible to put windows vista over xp? i tried but the computer said not a valid system32 blah blah blah.....

When i go to try to install it a window pops up saying spinstall.exe is not a valid Win32 application

If you are trying to remove XP and install Vista, you do not do it from inside the OS. You have to boot off the Vista discs, format the drive, and install Vista. Put the Vista disc in, reboot the computer, make sure the boot options has the DVD drive first. It will then prompt you to press a key to launch the boot CD. Then just follow the on-screen instructions.
