Hi guys,

Ive been given the job of configuring a computer for customers to use for a small business. They would like to lock it down so customers can only view websites for productivity and nothing else. The computer is running XP and I would also like to create an account that has restricted access to system components. Last, is it possible to isolate this computer from their informal network?

Ive already had some ideas

Public web browser for restricting access to website or K9 (like net nanny)
Find out some group policy settings that can be changed.

Thanks

Also, for restricting access to the rest of the network, I'm wondering if just a small cheap router might do the trick for you?

just to clarify your are configuring individual computers that will be given to people in a small business environment for use? Or are you setting them up in a specific environment.

give us some more details.

If your just configuring and giving it to them, there are various software you could install. But if this is being done at a site and the computer are and will be located at the site, you can create permissions on various network aspects and allow certain users, everyone, or just those who need access to it. Again if this is being done at a site, and your using server 2k3, you can configure each account to have certain abilites and able to view/change, or restricted from certain aspects/areas of the system.
