Arrrgggghhh! - Whats the MAX cpu I can put in my Toshiba A120SE

I'm an IT Technician but haven't been following the latest technologies for the last 3 years admittedly........

And Im struggling to get to grips with all these new cpus etc.



My Toshiba Laptop is an A120 SE which currently has a Core Solo T1350 1.86 GHz cpu installed.

Am I correct in thinking that I can install a T2050 Core Duo cpu with no issues ???? as it also has a FSB of 533mhz.


If not then what is the fastest CPU I can install in this laptop, and will I have to upgrade the heatsink / fan ??

Which chipset does your laptop use? Mobile Intel 945 Express? CPU-Z should be able to tell you. From there it should be possible to determine which CPU's your laptop will support.

Its got a Mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset.

Does that mean that my m/b supports 533/667mhz FSB ?

If so can I install a 667mhz FSB CPU as long as I put in 667mhz DDR 2 ??


To be honest this confuses me currently.

Could you be kind enough to let me know what the maximum cpu / ram is that I can install ? thanks in advance

Your laptop might need a BIOS update to support some of the CPU's. On Toshiba's website there is a BIOS update for your laptop dated July 2007 but it doesn't say what the changes are.Perhaps better if you contact Toshiba to make sure whether your laptop will support the CPU's.
