Best Chipset for a Moderately Priced Gaming System

Hello all,

I recently acquired an Intel Core2Quad Q6700 processor. I am looking to build
a mid-range gaming system. I am curious to know what the best chipset would be
to use? I don't plan on running dual video cards, but I am looking to buy a decent
video card in the $200-$250 range.

I am willing to spend about $100-$150 on a motherboard, though I am a little
flexible if there is a better price/performance ratio to be had. Should I choose an
Intel, ATI, or Nvidia chipset? I am leaning towards an Nvidia 650i, but I am not
entirely confident in my opinion.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Right now your best bet would be a P35, either a Gigabyte or ASUS. The Gigabyte DS3L or ASUS PSK-E would be good. The ASUS has more features, e.g., firewire and eSATA, but if you don't need these the Gigabyte would be fine
